Complaints Procedure

Points about which you are unhappy

All solicitors must have procedures in place to deal with any difficulties which might arise in their dealings with their clients. Records are kept for inspection by the regulatory body.

We aim to provide a service with which you will be satisfied. However, we do realise that on some occasions your expectations may not be met or that you may have a query or concern or simply be dissatisfied. Our Practice has a policy for handling these matters and further details are contained within our firm’s Client Information Booklet. In the first instance, you should contact the partner who is supervising the relevant matter to discuss your concerns and we will do our best to resolve any issues at this stage. If your concern relates to a Partner of the Alford, Sutton or Spilsby offices you may contact the Partner in charge of the other offices.

If we are unable to resolve your complaint, the Legal Ombudsman may be able to help you. However, before accepting a complaint about the investigation, the Legal Ombudsman will check that you have tried to resolve your complaint with us first. Ordinarily, any complaint to the Legal Ombudsman must be made within both of the following time limits:

* Within six months of the date that we provide you with a final written response to your complaint;

* Within twelve months from the date when the act or omission complained of took place or from when you should reasonably have known there was cause for complaint.

If your concern relates to our firm's behaviour or ethics, these can be raised with the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
